In his 12 year career, Oliver has illustrated 60 children’s books and has also enjoyed commissions from global advertising, design and editorial sectors. Oliver is currently still producing distinctively retro children’s illustrations and conceptual adult work.
I decided to look at Oliver Latyk’s work as he had done some illustrations based around outer space which is what my project for visual communications is based upon. Oliver Latyk inspired me to do my work in the style of a children’s illustrator as this is the target audience of the work that I have produced.

Accomplished jeweller Kelvin J. Birk has developed an intriguing collection of work where valuable gemstones are ruthlessly crushed and then reconstructed to create dynamic jewellery.
Kelvin J. Birk caught my eye with his intriguing jewellery design and has sparked my inspiration to create something as unique as his jewellery is.
“There is always destruction and loss but out of that come new things and new order” – Kelvin J. Birk. Consciously disregarding what is traditionally considered precious, Birk revels in a lack of control, allows chaos to take over and the nature of the precious materials to dictate the final outcome.

jewellery is a small decorative item worn for personal adornment such as brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Jewellery may be attached to the body or the clothes. It is one of the oldest type of archaeological artefact.
In most cultures jewellery can be understood as a status symbol. Jewellery is a universal form of adornment.
Jewellery is something that I personally decided to look at and focus on in my project this week as it is something that is personal to me as I believe that jewellery is a personal form of identification which links into the body adornment that I will design based around personality and identity.

In the year 2020 where everybody uses icloud to store their personalities Apple has a mass icloud leak which causes everybody’s identity to be lost. Nobody knows who anybody is until a new brand of personal body adornments that show personality are released…
My idea after being inspired by the jeweller Kelvin J. Birk was to create jewellery for your skin to show your personality, like a birth stone but for individuals.
